Dual 27hp PD anyone ever tried?
Has anyone ever ran dual 27hp prodrives? Looks like someone could put a dual rig together relatively cheap. Would it be a better rig (load carrying) than a single 36 or would the weight be a determent? I was thinking you could do it on a 54" bottom boat.
Ideas?

back in the day saw a few. Dual 36s are unreal though if you got the cash.
Takes 30" between engines to mount duals.
tiller handle duals cost like $1500 for the handle and wiring in addtion to the engines.

duals on a 20' or 22' x 60" carry way more load than a single. plus u have a kicker if one goes out.
i've driven dual rigs both tiller and remote steer. and kholer and briggs.
a dual 36 setup is what i would go with if i had the scratch.
with the hyd reverse option, it makes remote steer alot more user friendly.

Damons dual 36 rig was a beast
good video of it somewhere, there was a decent dual 27Pd video on their old website, not sure its on the new one.
to answer the guys post, yes I think you could get a pretty good deal ona a couple good used 27 PDs and yes it would be a nice rig.

I would think a boat could break the 50 mph mark then.

Re: Dual 27hp PD anyone ever tried?
Seem everyone wants the dual 36 rigs these days, but we ran dual 27's for two years, then dual 32 and they handles a 6-8 man load just fine. I have often said that for most guys dual 27s will do everything you want and for a cheaper price tag. Example, when we went to Mudfest three years ago with my dual 32 rig we ran with PD in their old dual 27 rig. We had six and seven adults in my boat, they had four adults and four kids in Brians rig, we ran within 2 mph of each other. Duals are duals, plenty of power to max boat loading. Just my experiences. PW P.S. We are really thinking hard about rigging up a triple rig on one of our 2072 Phowlers just to see what it would do.
