Sold my 23 GDLT last night after 6 years of ownership. I went with it because of it's rep for dependability, built in LA and 15 miles from my house, and that's what all the cool kids were doin

Instant reverse.
Materials it is made out of.
The man who made it always took my phone calls to answer all the silly questions i had when i was researching the product.
The man who made it still takes all my phone calls whenever i have silly questions and if he doesn't he returns them rather quickly.

Cause I burnt up my outboard, couldn't afford a surface drive, and some ol' dude hated the thing cause he was weak as a pickle and couldn't handle it, so cha-ching!

Re: what made ya pick dat one????
Couldnt afford a surface drive, but the marshs I hunt you gotta have a mud motor. The first boat I looked at and was going to buy fell through when the guy literly blew up the 24 honda beavertail in front of me, so I made a 10 hour drive to NC.

Instant Reverse and customer service... I drove 6 hours to pick her up and its the only motor I'd use for the areas I frequent.

Re: what made ya pick dat one????
When I put the purchace on mines ... I had two choices ...... I talked on the phone with both companys and was satisfied with both conforsations and literally a partner of mines and I flipped a coin to see which one of us was gonna purchace which machine. He bought the 32 Pro-Drive FPR and I purchace the GTR-35. I do believe thay were the first ones to arrive in our part of the country. Any ole who ....... All manufactures have come a long way and I thank all are good to go ........ but .......... I still have only two choices .... GTR-35 bein' mines first choice 36PDwiththeHydroFPRHydroTilt bein' second Either one of mines purchaces would go directly to Hoyt at Gator-Tail or EVT to recieve the head work, cam, exhaust job and nothin' more done to the engine ..... then I would run the smoke out of it never to looks back !! I would be gittin' a limit evertimes I let it off the trailer either I be fishin', huntin', and or womanizin' !!!! And that Sir ..... is a Matr-Fact !!!!!

Re: what made ya pick dat one????
Started looking into them just as the sh!t on the 'fuge was getting interesting. Was still doing my homework when the old MMT site came up, and spent ALOT of time reading posts and watching videos trying to figure out what I wanted. Got ahold of all four manufacturers to get some information, only three were interested in my business apparently. Decided I wasn't doing business with the other one pretty much right off the bat. Took three calls from Louisianna and decided if I was going to spend the money, I should get exactly what I felt I needed/wanted. Wanted neutral and reverse. Was basically sold on the G-T. Wanted that instant reverse, and the extra horses at the time didn't hurt. Wasted alot of Kyle's time on the phone asking questions (he never acted like I was wasting his time though). Flew down to Loreauville test drive the G-T. Hung out w Kyle and Bryce a bit. Saw some big effing gators (don't have them in NY). Haven't regretted buying a Gator-Tail once since I owned it. Have been treated very well, right from the beginning, by the folks at G-T. Both over the phone and in person. Abuse the hell out of the motor, and it's still running strong.
That being said. The people at GoDevil were very helpful when I was shopping around and very decent and honest. Never got to see their shop, but were great even over the phone.
I stopped in the PD shop while in Loreauville, and KP was great as well. Gave me the grand tour and was extremely helpful, even though I'm pretty sure he knew I was in town checking out the Gator-Tails.
Would like to ask all the MM manufacturers to stop selling these motors to people in my area, because it was awesome when I was the only one up here with one. Seeing more pop up every year.
Still waiting for a call back from the other company. Put a half dozen in, and not one was returned. Not holding my breath since it's been over four years.

Re: what made ya pick dat one????
I ran Mudbuddy Hypers for years and I was a Mudbuddy dealer. I originally chose MB because they are in my Western US neck of the woods and they had a good reputation with longtails. Also, because they manufacture blinds. IMO the best thing about the MB short tail motors is that they are as dependable as any of them when run hard (if you're not gonna run it hard, why own a mud motor?). Also, they have the widest line of available stock and modified horsepower models out there.
I wanted to try ProDrive for the full power reverse and for the fact that I always heard they drove the most like an outboard. A year after I gave my portion of the MB dealership to my partner I finally got to try that Prodrive. I have run it one season and I can say that it has met my expectatons. I like the Full Power Reverse so much I cannot see ever going back to a motor without it.

Bought a MB- dependable, good fit and finish, controls on the tiller, full line of models and performance parts. It has worked out well for me and where I run.

Re: what made ya pick dat one????
Bought the GoDevil Surface Drives because...
Bart Baker - Great customer service offered me an awesome price too on both the boat and motor
Reliability - GoDevil products are built tough - the only all steel frame no clutches to fail or electrical clutch switch to fail
Balance - No complex tilt needed - just "feel" your way over logs
Functionality - Out of the crate it does it all - no mods needed
Low Maintenance - It just works - minimal repair and maintenance needed I didn't buy it to work on it - just to use it over and over again in salt water and fresh water with obstacles and vegitation infestation.
