Hi everyone, I've really enjoyed checking out this site. Anyway, I've got a new hunting property in Arkansas with fluctuating water levels and I'm thinking about getting a rig. Thing is, it's a different type place than most areas I see in pics on here.
To get in at low water I have to motor up a tupelo lined old "river" channel with beaver dams. It's very tight, at times barely wide enough for the boat to squeeze between trees. Bottom is soft mud/rotten leaves etc.., speed is no issue, I can barely get out of idol. Been using a 15hp outboard on a 14 ft boat. At low water times we've pushed/pulled more than we've run. There are also a few areas of thick smartweed and some logs/stumps.
What are yalls opinions? I really don't know anything but was thinking a small SD, like a copperhead or Dixie on either a small mud boat or just a regular Jon boat?? Like I said boat would just be a taxi... a 3/4 mile ride at slow speed, but Getting out and pushing every 15 yds ain't too fun
I would think keeping the motor small and light would help if we do have to pull over a dam, etc...Will something like a 10hp transport 3 people traveling light into the property? Or do I need bigger. Mud boat needed or not???
Sorry for all the questions. And thanks in advance.
