 23 GDSD vs. 27 MB
I have a 1442 alumacraft and I'm fixing to buy a sd. I am looking at a 06' 23 GD waterfowl edition and a 08' 27 MB with trim/tilt and clutch. The MB has 250 hours on it and the GD only has like 75. Which one is the better deal and which one will run on my boat better? Both are $2500.

Re: 23 GDSD vs. 27 MB
You might want to post info on the transom height and angle...
Someone with knowledge on the MB will have to tell you how critcal angle is for the MB....
However it is a non-issue with the GDSD, all that matters is the transom height.... Also if the 23hp has a rope start that is nice and if there are 25hp limited WMA areas that is a nice plus on the 23 also....

I've owned a 23 GDSD. That's a tough little motor that won't let you down. Plenty of power for the light weight. That's definitely the one I would suggest over your other option.

Dats a no-brainer for me get da Go Devil less hours on it and better customer service in my opinion for when somethin does eventually break.

Re: 23 GDSD vs. 27 MB
Both are toads when it comes to weight in the setups you described. The 27 would fly in a boat like yours but the 23 would not do to bad either. I don't think you would have problems with either motor in my opinion. Clutch is a nice feature. Guess you will have to decide. BTW the 27 is a lot of motor for a 1442.

Re: 23 GDSD vs. 27 MB
I had a 23 GDSD I just sold it a few weeks back and now have a 27mini the 27 will no doubt run faster. THe weight of the GD is 220 and the 27 MB will be a bit more than that. Either one will be on the heavy side for your boat. The GD is balanced like a longtail, the sport model MB will be tail heavy like an outboard.
