Hope someone can help me with this. Can I safely put a 36 PD on a 16X44 Go-Devil boat?? I was told by a dealer that it was too heavy and water would come over the transom every time I backed off throtle. I would like to have the extra power for large loads. Thanks |

There are folks running the 36 on that hull. You just have to watch the backwash when coming off the throttle but that is inherant for the short transoms boats of any length. Or build up the transom for a long shaft. What I would do. |

Thanks Charles. I do have a 4 inch add on to transom already for a long shaft 23GD. Just hope it would hold up to the extra weight |

Benelliman used to run that exact combo and it performed well. |

Do you know if he built up the transom and ran the long shaft? I am also concerned about porpoising. Thanks for the feedback..I am getting closer to pulling the trigger on a new motor. |

i have a 31mb on a 1644 and it does squat a little. it is a short transom. it'll porpoise a little too. i have wedges that i'm getting put on to fix that problem. i cut open the front, removed the foam and put my gas tank up there and it helped alot. the backwash can pretty much be avoided as long as you arent running wo and shut it down. |

Thanks guys. One last question. I have a 4 inch add on transom because the GDSD I had was tall transom model. I would like to leave it on there. Should I go ahead and buy a tall transom PD as well or just go with short due to the extra squat. |

337-229-0034 and ask either peck of kp. they will tell u to run a long shaft pd. i built up my transom on my 20x44" skiff and won't ever buy a short transom boat again. ![]() |

Don't want to rule out Gator Tail just yet. Anyone know of a dealer close to S'port/Bossier where I can see the GT35? |
