Here y'all go for the people that wanna know what kinda pin to use on the gator tail so you don't have to keep going back with wrenches or drilling the bolt and putting a pin threw it. It's a mercury 15hp to 25hp tilt pin.

has it bent any when bouncing , one thing i thought of is to put a gas line around it ... will help with vibration and give it somewhat of a cushion

You using a sleeve over it?

Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

No I took the sleeve off along time ago. Well actually it fell off one day when I was moving the bolt on the water and never worried about putting another one on.

I had some machined out of 316 stainless. I'm trying to get some more made. I think my cost total was about $15.

Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

I just use a 3/8 galv bolt from OCBM & drilled a hole in the end for a hitch pin. Cost about $5, but the Merc pin would be easier.

Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

This mercury pin y'all talk about. You have to straiten the end to get it in the hole not once but twice. Second time you have to reach on the inside of the mud section to do it. The rubber hose what is it for. It's gonna get eaten to shit from the motor bouncing around on it. You guys over think shit way to much

Author:  deltaduckmaster [ Thu Feb 14, 2013 11:26 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

Take the existing bolt drill a hole in it and your done. No rubber hoses shit half the time I don't even put my pin in it

Author:  deltaduckmaster [ Thu Feb 14, 2013 11:27 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

Think about what the easiest way to do it from inside the boat in a bunch of mud. Not at the boat landing standing behind the motor on the cement. This ain't outboards stop thinking like a outboard guy

Author:  Beadlejuicejr [ Thu Feb 14, 2013 11:29 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

Yeah a bolt threw it witha lock nut was a terrible idea

The mercury pin you just turn it and it straightens by its sel and you pul it out that's so over thinking something easier than pulling a pin and fighting a damn bolt you can't grab ahold of

Post subject:  Re: Quick pins

I used a 10 inch I bolt. got a loop on the end to grab easy in the mud and drilled the end for a quick pin.Made two! I leave the bottom one in and put on in the top for high speed running to mud holes once to mud pull out the top and your good to go!
