Went frogging Saturday night around lake des allemands in my buddies custom 18x48 with a stock gtr. I tell you that the reverse on it sucks it weren't for having a push pole we woulda had to make a call for help. But on the other hand it does pretty good in forward so I guess you have to sacrifice reverse to get good forward or sacrifice forward to get fpr with a prodrive. ![]() |

He obviously is a undercover PD lover. Why else would someone else bash on how shitty the reverse is on a gator tail. I must admit, when you have 2 gator tails the reverse is okay. But a single aint worth a damn. Pro-Drive reverse FTW. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4tDjEWg ... r_embedded |

Do they supply you with a push pole when you buy a gtr or is it extra? Bc you will definitely need one in my area. ![]() |

Did some one explain to you that you have to squeeze the handle for it to go in reverse? |

Im just stating the facts that you better have a push pole if you frogging in my area in a gtr. Now for the cummins vs. the rest of the diesels that's a whole nother story there pal. |

What I was showing you is that you believe everything you have is the best in the diesel thing. Also on another note, since it has been proven over and over that a GTR can reverse more than a foot, it could be operator error on your part or a case of mistaken identity. Are you sure you were in fact riding in a GTR and not a MB, since they look alike before the recent best ever MM that MB has created? ![]() |

Yeah I'm gonna ask this... Against my better judgement lol. So how well does the reverse on a GTR work when backing away from the boat dock and reversing off the shore? This is a legit question, not looking to stir the pot. I'm in the market for a GTR. |

If trimmed down like should be, the reverse it plenty strong. If you leave the motor trimmed up to the "sweet spot" for running, you're not gonna be able to do anything with the reverse, whether you have a plate or not. Trim it down, then try to back up. I haven't needed a push pole since I swapped to a GTR, & we run lillies, hyacinth, and mud. |

Just remember there's a lot of different types of mud. AGAIN, it's all about what motor fits your needs in the areas you hunt/fish/live in. |

Post subject: | Re: GTR reverse |
It was definitely trimmed all the way down, even dropped to the bottom pin and did a little better until you find a log or stump. We were frogging the edge of the marsh and the marsh was surrounded by about 25' to 30' of lilies and that alligator grass in some places. Once the boat got on top that shit even if the motor was in open water the reverse wasn't moving shit. |

I live in the same area of his, and can tell you I have zero problems with a GTR in reverse in any situations. I frog all of the time in my GTR and in others and have no issues. |

Post subject: | Re: GTR reverse |
It dosen't have to be trimmed all the way down there is a sweet spot that you have to find, and don't be affraid to give it throttle. |

Post subject: | Re: GTR reverse |
We tried all that that yall are talking about nothing seemed to work but some help from a push pole. That's a fact. Im not saying that a prodrive would not had problems either don't get me wrong it was some bad shit. But I think that fpr woulda ate that shit up and could went over the stumps. I don't own a mm I own a 23 longtail which gets the job done but I will be in the market for a mm in the near future. Im on the fence about a gtr or prodrive and after Saturday night I wasn't impressed with the gtr reverse, but it did do good in forward. |
