I am going out on a limb here but I would suggest at least 16' and at least a 46" bottom. I have no idea where those numbers came from but they just POPPED in my head. ![]() |

would ideally like a bigger boat to run a big block motor, but my finances at the time dont agree with that since I'm saving for a house I dont want to take out a loan. I should have enough cash by the end of the summer to buy a 27 PD or 25 GTR. Ive wanted a PD for the longest time but finally coming to my senses that the instant reverse would be best for my needs since I run trotlines and limblines when I'm not chasing ducks and I cant have an outboard boat for fishng and mudboat for ducks. LOL! |

1744 would be the most ideal size..mine is an 1840 and works great but when I build a new one it will be a 1744.... sent from the former Republic of Texas. |

I had a 1448 with a 23 it was terrible....porpoised like crazy with 1 guy and would only carry a 2 man hunt load 12-13 the boat wasn't long enough to balance out the motor gas tank was in front too. Same motor with a 1744 and I run 23.5 with 2 man and fishing load. If you have the boat already thats one thing but if you still have to buy one spend a little more and get a longer one it will save you frustration. A 1648 alweld is right around 2500 bucks depending on layout. |

My 1840 runs great .....with the kids trying to fish out of its a little unstable if they are walking around....4" would make a difference. sent from the former Republic of Texas. |

Post subject: | Re: 25 GTR on a 1448 or 1452 |
I recently bought a Grizzly Jon boat, 16' with the float pods and a 25 late 80s 2cycle johnson. I hunt the "mud flats" in northern washington state. Does anybody know or can help me find out what I would be better off with , a pro-drive surface motor or a gator LT. To get where i hunt its off the river. then threw tidal mud/packed sand flats, most of the time with little or no water depending on the tide. I Have ran a 40 horse yamaha jet threw on high tide and still had a hell of a time making it threw with out clogging the intake, Will a mud motor push me threw the packed sand or what options do i have... any opinions are appreciated. thanks |
