Took my boat out for the first time yesterday and had a ton of tiller torque. Not much torque until I got up to around half speed and then it started to torque into me, took a lot to hold it straight. We moved weight around and made sure everything was balanced.

I just wanted to be 100% on what I need to bend, I didn't see it in the manual. And, I assume I need to bend it more in the direction that it's already bent (towards port side)? Check out the pic... Lemme know if that's the only piece I need to bend.

Thanks guys. Is it worth trying to move the motor over an inch or so to see if that helps first? I don't have much room at all on my transom, but may have about an inch to play with.

i found that bending tab at more effect than moving motor over

Cool thanks. I was told bending the skeg should be a last resort but it seems like it should be the first thing to try, assuming nothing weird is going on with the way it's mounted to the transom (way off center, etc).

I bent both tabs and sharpened my skeg. Zero torque. runs great. (35 GTR)

The 25 gtr I sold drove like an outboard. You could drive it with 2 fingers. Never bent the tab or nothing. I just hope the next one I get drives like that one did.

Can you bend it with something like a pipe wrench without messing it up?

Yes

Sharpened your skeg? I take it you mean the leading edge. Is that so it cuts water and grass better? Never heard of this

Not really sharp . Just tapered leading edge and rear tab so prop sees less turbulent water. My 35 gtr runs awesome.

That's my theory.

Not sure how much it helped but my 35 gtr pushes my boat nearly 30 mph stock. Boat is extremely fuel efficient as well.

I drove my new rig yesterday and it has bad tiller torque so I guess I need to bend mine too and I GPS 'd with a full ice and me and my daughter (75#) holding 28 mph at 3920 rpm
