 Browning BPS
How many of you guys shoot them? If you do what aftermarket chokes have you tried and how did they perform?

 Re: Browning BPS
A close friend of mine in AR has shot one his whole life and smokes ducks with a Patternmaster full. I shoot a Kicks Full out of my 870 and wouldn't trade it for the world. But, I've seen Madison bust 'em from way out with the BPS/Patternmaster combo.

 Re: Browning BPS
Buddy has one with the 30" barrel, thing is like swinging a god damn tree. He treats it like shit and it has yet to let him down. I cleaned it for him last year and I think I took half the marsh out of it. I said when was the last time this thing was cleaned. He said never. 5 years he has owned it. Shoots a Carlson mod.

Well my Browning Big Piece of Shit has been parked for a long time. I got it about 18 yrs ago. I shot it for about 3-4 years. I started having trouble with it ejecting shells. It was a simple peoblem im sure, but I never fixed it. I bought an 870 shot that for 15 years. Now thae a400 is awsome:grin:

 Re: Browning BPS
I've shot my BPS for years since i was a kid with out cleaning it til last year. Shot a lotta ducks and deer with it. Never malfunctions. Shot it with a mod choke for ducks and IC for deer. Bought a silver 3 years ago and now I shoot a pattermaster. Reired the BPS to deer huntin. Get gun IMO. I'll always shoot a browning.

 Re: Browning BPS
Just swapped a field model 12 ga. BPS for a canoe. Still have a very reliable Stalker model 12 ga. 3.5" chamber with a 30" barrel, and a 20 ga. engraved receiver model. Solid, solid pump. I would love to have the 16 ga. in the BPS line. Flawless. Get you one.

 Re: Browning BPS
Just take the barrel off - you have rust inside the shell chamber in the first 1/2" - you likely never oiled that area and after it rusts up shells hang after firing them there...
Thats the only thing that causes feed issues on a BPS...
5 minute fix...

 Re: Browning BPS
I have the 30 inch barrel on mine and have had good results with the factory full choke but had a lot of cripples last year on those longer shots so I figured that after 9 years it was time for the upgrade. On the feeding a new shell issue I found out that if you don't pump it all the way back sometimes it won't load the next shell. If I rack mine back all the way it always cycled properly.

 Re: Browning BPS
This will sound odd but....
The factory IC paterned better on my 30" at 40 yards - with Steel #2 thru BBB than the Mod and Full tubes.... Remember those ratings are for #6 lead....
Burn off a few hunting rounds of Steel and check it out on the paper....

 Re: Browning BPS
Look at the Kicks or Patternmaster choke, both great chokes. The Patternmaster choke is chrome in color where the Kicks is black matte.

Everyone to the right of you in the blind will thank you for shooting a BPS, depending where on the floor your dog sits, it may not.
