Post 35 Surface Drive GTR or Mudbuddy
I have a 1650 Xpress with flotation pods. I was runnin a 35 longtail at 23 gps mph in deep water. I'm not too worried about the reverse feature so other than that which would be the best motor for me. Gatortail or Mudbuddy

Well, this is my first rig. I stole it for 6 grand. Boat, motor and trailer were 2 years old. Trolling motor and GPS was less than 6 months old. I couldn't pass it up. But IF i had to buy new, GTR all the way. A buddy has one and it is a beast.

Post Re: 35 Surface Drive GTR or Mudbuddy
well here is my two cents.
i would run as many rigs as possible before commiting to one. bought a GTR35 earlier this year and put it on a 1656 alweld with an aluminum hard sided blind, three guys in the boat and gear, decoys etc. and the boat will not plane out. not happy with my 7000$ investment.
Dont get me wrong i had a blast this summer, jumping beaver damns, running through the shallows and what not, but when it comes to what i REALLY NEED THE RIG TO DO(hunt) i did not get what i expected!!!!!!! starting to believe these "pro members" are telling people anything to sell a rig!!!!!!!!!!!

tmorelli- i bought the boat five years ago, with an outboard it does. i thought i did my home work when i was told the 35GTR would push my boat blind with three guys in it. my buddies are average size, i'm about 230lbs, other two are probably right around 200lbs.
just put in a new floor this year, no wet foam!
the hull is in good shape, few scratches but no dents
shawn at shallow water marine adjusted it to the top pivot hole.
i don't know how to set the rpms.

Thanks for all the comments guys. My only complaint about the GTR is from pics I have looked at the motor seems to set up really high and I'm afraid I will have troubles gettin in our blinds. Does the extra height bother any of yall or do they just look tall? Thanks again
