Does anyone have this boat? If you do, what motor are you running on it? What type of perfomace are you getting. Do you like the boat, first off?

I have never owned a surface drive motor ever, and I am trying to determine what I want. Any opinions greatly appreciated?

I would like to have reverse, reliability, and the ability to move with 3 peeps and gear.

If reverse is required, you will need either a PD (shaft driven) or GT(belt driven). Suggest looking at both first before buying.

Shafter on here is running an 1848 GD boat with a 36 ProDrive. Wait for him to chime in.

Ok, just so I have my duckies straight. ProDrive and GatorTail are the only surface drive engines that have reverse?

Which one has the full power reverse that has to be swiveled, and which one has reverse with the gear or button that needs to be pressed?

Lastly, do these motors have neutral? Love the forum, great wealth of info.

Pro drive-Full Power Reverse
Gator tail-instant reverse
Both have neutral and they are the only surface drives with reverse

Has anyone ever ridden in a 18x48 Go Devil boat with either a Pro Drive or a Gator- Tail 35/36HP?

The boat to me seems kind of heavy. Just curious as to how this boat will perform with this motor. I come from a Mudboat background with a v6 chevy engine. Lots of maintenance involved. Although it was bad to the bone, I think these surface drives would give it a run for the money.

If you're concerned bout da weight remove all da floataion from da boat and convert dat space to dry storage. Dat will get rid of a few hundred pounds.

The boat, according to Go-Devil Website is 550 pounds. If you remove the flotation in the floor, do you think that would lose 100 pounds? I thought that was just foam. Sorry for the questions, I am a newbie.

I got a 1848PDCC with a 36PD, ran it with 3 people (280lbs., 190lbs., 175lbs.) and 6 gal. of fuel, it ran 25mph in deep water, i also took a spend buy my self (175lbs.) and ran 28.8, boat only has 1hr. on it, think it will pickup a mph or 2 once it breaks in. Also think full power reverse is the way to go.

Thanks for all of the info guys. I appreciate the help.

I tried to look at the foam in the boat, but the floor is riveted to frame around the foam. I popped one of the rivets and the foam looked black.

Does Go-Devil or anyone sell the foam new? I don't want to rip out and start over if I can't find the replacement. Also, who deals sell the Gator Tail and Pro Drive motors in the New Orleans area? Do they have them in stock?

Call Go Devil

pretty sure they will ship you replacement foam
or you can let them do the work for you

you are close enough to all the brands to deal
with them directly from N.O. and get test rides too
