I've never run a mudmotor, just wondering how well a 35 hp surface drive would push a 20ft Lund Alaskan through a marsh?

How wide? Flat bottom? What are you going to be running in?

I'm guessing not very well--the Alaskan is a deep V and SD like flat bottom boats. BUT if you're thinking of getting a new rig for the marsh, you could get the motor first, try it and see--if you're happy keep it. If not, sell the boat and get a new mud hull.

That's a lot of boat bro. That rig will handle a 125hp. It drafts quite a bit also. That is a really sought after boat. Bet you could sell it and put that money towards a more suitable boat for your needs. If you are up north you could get more money for the boat.

Would you run a 25hp outboard on it?

That is the equivalent of a 35 mudmotor.

The specs on that boat say its a 2076 and minimum HP is 60. Sooo...I'm gonna go ahead and say it wouldn't push it well at all. Like others have said, your best bet would be to sell that hull and buy a flat bottom made for it. MNGunner has a good idea thought of at least trying it out on that hull first.
