 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
The belt and gears is all he changed on ours. Stripped out bolt holes, no bolts will stay tight more than an hour, outdrive too short. It may last us 2 more years and he wont answer our emails or voicemails. Use the search on here and you will find other issues.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
I have a 35 no issues but a belt. 13hrs. Not sure why it snapped. Hoping it was fluke. Cold morning maybe? Still love the motor. Got it changed in 30mins

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
Any of you dixie owners have problems with the bottum of the belt housing splashing water into the boat? My buddies motor splashes gallons into the boat on any given ride. It seems like these motors sit too far back and low. Maybe it was just his setup.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
Does he have a tall transom motor on a short transom boat? I bet he does.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
My rig stays perfectly dry. Maybe a short transom and a quick stop could catch some water???

That's a great question. I don't think he knows. He bought it used. The boat is very ass heavy to begin with

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
The only bolt holes I can even think of is the belt housing and belt box drain plug.

If it makes y'all feel any better, I was trying to buy a boat from him and he wouldn't return my calls either. May have been a blessing in disguise.

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
I personally know 2 guys that run Dixie's, one has had 3. 2 23s and 35 no issues and one has a 23 no issues. I had a Carlisle HT belt break around my 11hr mark. Maybe was a fluke maybe not, cold morning, didn't warm up motor, just headed out through the cattails I was in to pick up the 4 ducks we had just killed because of the 20mph winds and didn't want to lose em then SNAP. Honest review is if you cant turn a wrench whatsoever stay away. If you can, and have basic mechanical knowledge, you can fix the minor issues for 2k less and have a good motor that allows you to duck hunt and get places you cant with an outboard. So far Ive been extremely satisfied, minus the belt. Time will tell and I will be putting a ton of hours this next year. Hope it all works out.....

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
i had multiple 'fluke' belt failures on one of the first Mike motors. Its depressing carrying 2 extra every trip. Mine had the steering pins not square. so when I made hard turns it would bind up all the way over..fun in the winter. Later when the shaft broke cus it was bent from the start, I got to take off the bearing cups and find a broken off tap just left in the hole. 'surprise, we dont give a sh**!" discovery. ended up making a new shaft, new bearings, new bearing cups, new taper locks, both were split, over 10 belts, and eventually new engine. another 'Fixie'
oh yeah and every thread was terrible, def done with cordless drill high speed single hand
based on the pics above, absolutely nothing has changed in the past year, its still a lot of Mcgyver hand tooling to get stuff out the door.
for you guys with lots of hours and no failures, you are lucky. You guys saying no issues after like 30 hours, pray to jesus each time you go out

 Re: Dixie Mud Motor
You ever figure out what caused your belt breakage? What belts did you run?
