Is that a true flat bottom withy that pointed of a bow or a hybrid v in the rake. Been contemplating how I would want to do a new boat either flat front or pointed bow. I like the pointed bow that I have now on my crawfish skiff and would like a sharply pointed bow like that if it can keep a true flat bottom. |

Yeah okay. ![]() I said dead timber. Have you ever seen a n tx lake? They're basically forest that the cut a few lanes in, and flooded. Its just an old rotten forest in the water now. I didnt say i was running over strong green trees, and didnt say anything about running in the swamp. |

I run dead timber quite often and I'll never go back to a square front, the pointed bow still breaks the weak little stuff. You are asking to sink a boat if you run over dead trees/stumps much larger than 4-5" often. What are you going to do when you hit a stronger tree that breaks off where the rake hit it 1' above the water and the rake climbs up it putting the transom under water? |

Post subject: | Re: 19x48 Mad Man Custom |
Question, most of these boats have longitudinal runners and a few braces running across the top of the runners tying into the sides of the boat. Every mad man boat I have seen so far, the cross braces do not tie in to the sides of the boat. I have owned one (not mad man) like this and the bottom and sides flexed pretty bad in the rough water and over stumps. Is this the case with these boats? Seems like it should be tied in creating a "strongback" to reduce flexing. Just curious. |

I've only taken it out once and it was just in a bayou, I doubt that any of that would happen though, it's a very solid built boat. I've got a buddy who has one and he has run it through the gauntlet and he has been nothing but pleased with it, he said the hull is very solid and well built |

Well like I said I haven't really gotten to take mine out, all I'm doin is working right now, and my buddy is rough on equipment he pushes everything hard and he has had no complaints and no problems with it. |
