Grinder with a sanding pad on it or wire wheel on it.

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
ok thanks. the gator cglide is way up on the side walls of the boat. I had hope I could soften it up with a paint thinner or something and just scrape it off. but I looks like sometimes there no easy way about it

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
I bet you can just scuff it with 120 grit and paint over it.

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
I had to do the same on a boat I bought.
First I tried to sand it and that did not work.
2nd I tried aircraft stripper and that was a joke.
3rd. I used a flap disk with 120 grit and it would clog in no time.
4th. It was a pain but I did it. a wire wheel worked the best. It was messy. Make sure to ware a dusk mask.
Here is the before and after:

Wait and see what Frog says, I still think you can paint over it.

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
I'm tempted to scuff the gator glide up with a light grit sand paper and use a self etching primer then paint it

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
if you are not going back with the GG on the sides...can't imagine why??? you need to get it really clean and go over with a good etching primer!

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
Yes it's half way up the side of the boat. I just want it off the sides. The previous owner put it on the boat, which I'm glad it's on there just not that high up on the sides, I'm not removing it off the bottom. the boat could us a paint job so I want to remove the existing gator glide of the side.

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
Might as well not paint it then. Covers almost more then half the side if my boat. I might just leave alf a foot of the gator glide at the bottom.

Re: how do i remove gator glide ?
Can do. Yea there's paint under the gg on the sides. I do like the gator glide to a certain degree but not that far up on the sides. So I plan on going ahead and removing all the gg and re painting the boat. Once I'm done I might put GG 2-3 inches on the side
