 GTR 25
I know all the people that have a 35 are going to say go with a 35 and all the guys with a 25 are going to say go with a 25! But was thinking about getting one to put on a smaller boat (1648-1642). But is 10 hp less worth 30 lbs less? I just want a small boat with a small motor and want a GTR.

 Re: GTR 25
I have a 25 and love it! But if I didn't do most my hunting in a hp restricted refuge I'd no doubt have a 35 on a larger boat.

I got the 23. It doesn't have the ass to dig deep when you need it too.

 Re: GTR 25
So not worth having a small rig? I like not having to have 3 big niqqers to pull my boat out because I tend to get stuck every now and again. I kind of just want something different. But with everyone saying it doesn't have the azz I might just stay with the 35.

 Re: GTR 25
Sunday, I was in some hard mud and about 1" water, and once it would get a bite, it would die and even when I got goin, it would die or I'd trim up not to die and then it wouldnt bite. But, my rig is light enough it was just easier to push out..
I don't want a heavy rig, I love my light rig, I run mostly mud flats and narrow ditches.

 Re: GTR 25
I like mine .. Just gotta work a little harder .. Sunday it had the same water problem .. I ended up digging a ditch with some back and forth motion and once I was able to trim down completely on the last forwarded motion I was on plane in about a boats length ...
Off topic but marsh mule I was behind you in line Sunday morning

 Re: GTR 25
I've got a 25. If I could do it over, I would get the 35. Gets real sluggish with a decent load. I'd rather have the torque.

 Re: GTR 25
My 23 is sluggish with a load too. but my 23 does have some grunt. i have alot done to mine and it runs good for my 1648. if it was on a actual mud hull i bet it would do alot better.

 Re: GTR 25
I do think the 25 just lacks a few performance parts. It's a very capable motor all things considered. Also consider the majority of 35/36 motors have some type of mods.

What is the smallest boat you could put a 25 GTR on? Just curious?
Thanks Phil

 Re: GTR 25
Mine is on a 16x48 .80 hull Reverse will fill the boat if I hit it too hard. But in the skinny water it's fantastic

 Re: GTR 25
16' would be a good length I think. And somewhere between 48"-42" width.
