I just changed everything over to State Farm (house, 3 vehicles, atv, and mud rig). They don't base it on what it's worth, but instead how much you need to replace it. I put 15k on mine and pay $85 for the year.

Be sure you get full replacement cost coverage it costs a little more but you'll want it if you sink your rig.

Progressive. I realized that I didn't have my motor covered for mechanical issues but I will get that covered now. Since I have no claims in 4 years, I have no deductible.

Post subject:  Re: Boat insurance

I got a letter in the mail the other day and they are canceling my insurance because the underwriters can't figure it out. If they can't get an answer out of a computer program they can't think.

They said it was because it was a custom hull. My agent is working on it but I've checked with 2 other companies and they say the same thing.

If my agent can't get this worked out I'll have to find some insurance elsewhere.

It's really simple to me but people can't think anymore.

Tom if it don't work out I give you my agents number! He called the underwriter because he knew I was serious when I told him if they couldn't figure this out then another company could have all my business

I work for an insurance company (Allstate). With a watercraft ,you are insuring the risk on a states value amount. On our system if the hull/ motor/ or trailer is unknow or not listed we insure it under "make unknown" and supply a vin# for the product. Since the value is stated and not "actual cash value or replacement cost" we would write that risk. Because no matter what make the motor is there is still the same risk for a bodily injury claim. And since the boat is insured at a stated value there wouldn't be a rating issue for a collision/ comprehensive. Hope that helped
