Who has the 27 PD motor on here
Pros/ Cons of this motor and what size rig do you have it on? How many folks/ how much gear do you typically carry

Re: Who has the 27 PD motor on here
I have a 25 pd on a 16x48 alum. hull. All 1/8. I have got it up to 26mph by myself in perfect conditions. Me and another guy and an icechest it will average around 22mph. Three people and gear slow it down pretty good but still gets on step. Does good in the mud so im happy with it. Couple of my buddies have the 36 pd and its a big differance but so is the price.

I had a 27 on a 17X56 .125 hull. went good empty, good luck weighted down, spend the extra cash and get a 35, they go 400 miles an hour loaded down.

Re: Who has the 27 PD motor on here
1652 G3 with a PD27 = 18 mph with 2 guys and a dog. I think the wide bottom doesn't help the top end but I'm happy with what I get out of it. The ability to get me where I want to go is more important than how fast I get there. The fun of going fast and hitting things in the dark is overrated!!

Re: Who has the 27 PD motor on here
I had a 27 ProDrive on a 17x48 square chine boat. Ran 26 empty, 22 with 3 guys and a pretty light hunting load. They weren't fat guys, and we didn't have 12 dozen weighted keel decoys either. The 27 will get the job done just fine if you have the right boat, and know how to load it. It is nice to have the big block, so if you can come up with the money, I would suggest that.

I have a 27 on my 17x42 skiff.I have a double bottom,10 gallon gas tank, and a middle bench seat. When boat was open nothing in it,I ran 28 mph.Now I run 27 mph by myself and about 25 with one person.I can follow all my buddies with 36PD's and sometimes go further then them with my lighter rig.I will probably get a 36 next year sometime but my 27 is running with the big dog so im good for now.
