I know some of ya'll have their boats, & I also know that some have had issues with them. But I heard yesterday that they are moving to a newer, nicer, easier access, people friendly location.

Must be doin somethin' right.

From the ones I've seen they have really improved in quality and workmanship. I also heard that they are building hulls for some of the other shops when they fall behind, and they even have ones with huntdecks.

I stopped by there the other day and they are in the process of moving to a new shop...

And they have been pretty busy. They were working on a couple of boats the other day.

IMO the quality of their boats has gotten better since they started. I had mine built last March not too long after they started up. I am happy with the service I received during and after the build. Mine is an 18x48 open hull and it had a lot of flex so we went back and they added some bracing to tie the sides to the runners and it really stiffened it up. There's no flex in it at all now. I picked up some speed too. I think they're putting that kind of bracing in all their boats now. I guess its one of those things you learn with time and trial and error. I would let them build me another boat.

the new shop is in my neck o' the woods. A buddy of mine owns it & used to run a mechanic shop there. He's leasing it to them.

Actually the original rumor that I heard was that Gator Trax was gonna lease that building as they are in such a remote area. But I ran into the guy yesterday. He pulled out a Geaux Customs business card & said "it's these people". I don't think he'd know a mud boat if it landed on him, but he's glad to have a tenant.

I'll have to stop by after they get settled in.

BTW, Site is under construction and will see things change this week.
There are also a bunch of Phowler pics.

Alot more pics and info will follow soon.

Bombdude. Yea that is them and they are "quietly" busy. James is still building for them and is a big part of their success. Also, some people own a boat built by them and dont even know it.....They have structured themselves with the right people, committed to building quality products, and moved on for the better.

I met these guys and talked to them over the phone so I could write a story for my website. At the end of the day I was just excited to see someone make a run at building the kind of boats that I'd be interested in. Chad was a cool guy and was passionate about hardcore boats and customer service. I don't see how that's going to be anything but good for us. Worst case scenario they'll put pressure on everyone else to keep their prices and quality in check. (stuffs getting more and more expensive for no good reason these days)

I'm with the others, I think the quality issues went with the former owner. Or at least, you stand a better chance of them making it right if they dont get it right first time out.

I'm not pimping them, but competition is a good thing. And their closed bow boats are bad to the bone looking. Like a skiff on roids.

As with all new business , products ,customer service, prices,ect... are going to need improvment. That is where "new" gets involved.... The previous owner seen that in order to survive he needed help with all aspects. And he looks like he's gittin it. I give them two thumbs up for even making an attempt in todays failing economy.

Oh yeah yeah yeah for sure, I'm not saying that there even ever was a QC issue there. To make it clear, I've never had one of their boats or even ridden in one. I'm becoming a big fan of theirs after writing an article on the boats and business they have.
I just got the feeling there's still some old funk floating around out there about what they're doing. I just got the impression from Chad that they'd started over(at least in their heads) last year with a renewed commitment to making and selling good boats.

Absolutely, I don't wanna fuel any fire about them in a bad way. Hell I dig their stuff.

I've now had quite afew hours on my Geaux 1848 and like cash have some flex in the sides in heavy chop but nothing that I'm overly worried about right now, got to remember its just a jon boat (i ordered it without the side bracing) Compared to my Excel's its my favorite, runs faster and has alot less weight....bonus after getting stuck and hav'n to push.................Seems to be abit more dent resistent then my Excels also, notice'n where the 5086 is coming into play......Great boat thus far.......Rail glad to see post'n again.................even though your still a FIB

I have an 18 x 48 with floatation -I have also had Excel and Gator Trax. They are all good boats-have their good and bad points. I like the set up I have right now and am actually keeping it another year! :D One of the best things is the cross bracing under the floor.

Like I told Mudd just today-they are just john boats for duck hunting and some people need to take a deep breath and calm down. There are a lot more importent things in life.

PS-Rail-We know you are just jealious and trying to hide your Mud Boat Envy-when you coming up for a visit! You've got my vote for #1.
