I just decided to fish a tournament on the Ouachita River tomorrow morning, the river is at flood stage so i am going to take my boat with GTR on it so i can get through the woods into the backwater lakes that aren't accessible when the river isn't flooded out of its banks. I google earthed it and it is about 17 miles one way. I have a 35 horse GTR, and a six gallon gas tank. will i be able to make the trip up river and back for a total of 34 miles on the six gallons or do i need to take a couple extra gallons with me? |

Let me Hailp you with yore querston if'n I can .... Lets see ..... gallon per hour .... 6 gallons = 5.5 hours ... 20 miles per hour average = 5.5 x 20 = 110 miles. I always carry a 1 gallon "reserve" that sits beside the 6 gallon tank .... it's save me a lot more than once !!!! Yore welcome ...... ![]() |

Yea yall are right for sure don't want to have some good fish and be late getting back, I know on my big boat i get about 2 miles per gallon, so i just wasn't sure what the ratio was with my new set up, considering i have only put 26 minutes on the motor |

i would say realistically you should figure 2-3 mpg you gotta figure your going to do some idling around and moving from spot to spot once you get there. If you get into any mud your going to use more gas. I wouldnt take less than 10 gallons if I was you. Get another 6 gallon tank that way its a quick switch if the first tank runs dry. Its a tourney time is money |

That's one of the reasons I went with a 13 gal. under deck tank. Plenty of fuel for long runs and long days playin. |

I've been 50+ miles round trio with 6.5 gallons. It barely made it back. That was running on step the entire time over half was wfo. |

You can get about 30-35 miles wide open with a stage 1 on 6 gallons so I'd bring a little but back up |

I always fill up both my 6 gal tanks --- you just never know I normally make about a gallon per 10 miles or so... I have made it 72 miles one time on 1 6 gal tank but I wasent running WFO all the time either |
