Can anyone explainhow to hook up a second trim switch and solenoid to a GTR35 that has the trim on the tiller now. |

Thanks banded-mallard. I have looked at the trim on my motor and there are 2 wires coming from it, blue-up and green-down. I have not opened up the wiring harness yet to locate where these wires go. What i am trying to accomplish is to keep my trim switch on the tiller and also add one to the grab bar. |

Should be as simple as adding another switch and wiring it exactly the same as the existing to the same terminals... |

Supposedly it isn't as easy as it looks. There is also a ground shunt in the factory trim that makes you have to reverse polarity or some crap. But that is what I have been told. If someone figures this out I will applaude you and copy what you did!!

Muddonkey has it figured out he built my switch the problem seems to be that he won't answer pm's. I have one his switches problem is I never hooked it up. Swo how long have you been trying to get ahold of him? I believe is a machinist off shore but not 100% sure on that |

Why can't you tap into the same blue and green wire with the other switch? Same thing, the switch will close the circuit. Forget about the rest of it... |

I'd have to see it. I used a reversing solenoid on my PD that was controlled by a simple rocker switch. Blue and green for up and down and a red for power from the starter. You could add 37 switches if you wanted, didn't matter which one was used to control the solenoid... |

I'm with ya will I done the same thing on a cmc plate but you couldn't pump the switches at the same time... Say never happen but someone in front pull and some in back pushing boat threw timber it alms it happened a couple times. I had switch in tillar handle and one on front the boat |

Same thing if it's wired like this... there's a trim switch controlling the relay, wire another one to the relay just like the existing one... why won't that work? |

Because the stock switch has a ground shunt in it ! When the switch is not being used it shorts both motor power wires to ground |

That's fucked up. The above diagram shows the simple rocker switch controlling a relay powering the motor. With the rocker switch in the neutral position, the relay is open and not sending power to the motor. What is there to shunt? |

And that drawing is the old setup when they used a relay now the switch is beefed up and on it's own it can handle 70 amps is why they did away with the relays! But if u buy a quality DC reversing solenoid u can use a 50 cent switch without burning it up! Now the secert is out yall have fun |

Prodrive had many brands tested and the Cole Hearse was one of the better ones but failed. The Trombetta cycled over 70,000 times without failure and the motor actually failed before the solenoid did so that's the one they use but they're $135ish each. Bigrich, I pm'd him a couple days ago. Pokey, I may sound like and idiot but I'm no electrian by far and have no clue about this stuff. I run the new switch to the reverse solenoid, run a hot from battery to solenoid, and do I jump from the existing solenoid to the new one. I want to be able to have both switches working. |

I also talked with GT, and they said that you could leave the factory switch in the box. He said take the reverse solenoid and run separate power to it, then run your second switch to it, and then tie into your trim wires. |

Does anyone have any pics of how to wire all this up. Let me makes sure i get this right and do it the cheapest way possible. I can tap into the green and blue wires coming into the existing trim switch. I can get a solenoid and run the power through that. Then i should be able to use both the new and existing trim switches. Where do you mount the solenoid? |

The second time I talked to them they wasn't for sure if you had to disconnect the existing switch or not. According to pokey & BB you have to. |

The stock switch will not work. To keep it simple the stock switch will feed a positive voltage to both poles on the solenoid ( up and down) when you use the second switch. |
