I'm looking to buy my first duck boat, I live out West so most of it's use will be in a shallow sand bottom river and in medium sized lakes. Some of the lakes have some thick ready areas that make an OB not really an option. I was thinking about a 1754 with a B******** S****35. Is going the longtail rout e over a SD a bad call? Like I said I've never owned a duck boat before. Any guidance on a rig that would fit my needs and not break the bank would be awesome Thanks in advance! |

If you go the longtail route, a longer and narrower boat will best suit you. However due to the design and function of the longtail motor, they really will push most boats about the same. Ran a 1848 rivet boat with a 31 go-devil and it pushed it just fine. Talking about backH20 they are quote possibly the finest longtail mudotors in production today and they kick ass in the water. I'm buying one in the next month or two if that helps. I would go with an 1848 or even an 1840ish sized hull before I would do the 1754. But whatever makes you happy brotha. 1842... IMO the best hull size for a big block LT |
