Last week I placed my order for an GTB1860 Extreme series with a GTR35, I selected the pointed bow option for a smoother ride as I cross large lakes and sometimes it can get pretty rough. Does anyone have any experience with the pointed bow versus the flat bow? Do they ride the same or does the pointed bow make for a smoother ride in rough water, will it keep me dryer? If they ride the same then I may opt for the flat bow and swap for the removable gun box as they are the same price.

Pretty sure it still has a flat rake ... Not hybrid v-bow

Correct^^^. Gator-Tail doesn't offer a hybrid take. I opted for a flat front for deck space.

You'll appreciate the pointed bow when you get into any trees or timber

Pointed is a must in tight timber trails. Different locations different boats

I'd opt for the quit being a Nancy boy and accept the fact it's a flat bottom mud boat you're gunna get wet option.

Make the front round for the best of both worlds.

Pointed bow is not gonna help you stay dry. In fact it may be wetter. V rake and pointed bow are two different things. GT does not make a v rake. If you plan on bowfishing and fishing and don't run timber all the time, a flat bow is much better. A lot more deck space...

If I didn't spend a bunch of time in Arkansas and Mississippi in the green trees, a square chine flat bow would have been fine with me. But the truth is they just aren't as safe out there for getting to and from the hole. And that's a fact.

Shit anything to help with the deflection factor to keep from a square on with a tree. it's plenty enough

I like a pointed bow for a number of reasons. Hydrodynamics breaking trough waves, aerodynamics when running and trailering , throwing a cast net , ramming through brush. Haven't run tree yet but will and it just make sense that it would help when in a pickle.

Here is what alot of people dont realize. To get a pointed bow the way Gator Tail builds there boats you take away from the flat of the boat and add to the length of rake. So if you wanted a true 18" bottom like on the bateau stye 18x46, then your boat would have to be the 20" er with the point.

Get the Russian model if they still make that. The point is nothing more than an extension of the gunnels which come to a point. There's nothing under the tip.

My 1851v rides way smoother and somewhat drier than my 1854 flat. I cross a big lake that can get really rough. That's what turned me away from Gator Trax. We get soaked when we have to take it.
