Went ride yesterday in some pretty bad lillys and mud. Comin out i was reversing tryin to turn baxk around when i noticed the clutch was red hot or what i thought was the clutch. Turned it off lookd back and the next thing i know i have 2' flames coming out of my clutch cover. Beer and water where thrown until we got it out, now the damn reverse only works half ass. Any ideas?

When eating in reverse it's best to to do it little at a time. Backwards then forwards. If the boat moves a little try to get it to go the opposite direction as fast as possible. It's easier to to get a moving boat moving than a boat sitting still. If your reversing and nothing is happening don't keep reversing. All your doing is hearing up your reverse. If it's slipping your only getting it hot.

It's what happened to him normal if you would just keep on the reverse hard for a long while? The heating issue?

Yes it normal if you don't use the reverse correctly. The reverse works by creating friction between the pads and rotar. If you constantly create friction you create heat. So if youre stuck and not moving in reverse, it's time for you to try something else.

Hell if it was mine I would upgrade that caliper to something better. Maybe a JayBrake Quad Series 4 piston caliper.
