 GTR 35 belt issues
I'm thinking about getting a GTR 35 and was wondering about the belt drive system. How reliable is it. How often will it go out under normal conditions. How often will it need to be changed. How much will it cost to change it.

 Re: GTR 35 belt issues
The belts that are used on these engines are very tough and really reliable. They are the exact same belts used on ultra-lite airplanes. I personally have never witnessed one break.

X2 - Belts are reliable on ALL of the major brands....
Props are where your money will go - so always buy and keep a spare for the late part of the season - they can be worn to a nub in just a few hours of abuse on sand and oysters....

 Re: GTR 35 belt issues
Don't they use belts made for up to 100 hp? Thats a heck of lot more than what the GTR 35's are using. Shouldn't have any problems at all.

Not jumping the gun. I was thinking you were referring to the ultra-lites. I was gonna say that I hope they are rated for more than 100 hp.

 Re: GTR 35 belt issues
I dont know if GT uses the same belt as GD but I believe they are rated that high. Takes a lot to snap one.

 Re: GTR 35 belt issues
I'm sure they are all the same.

 Re: GTR 35 belt issues
From what I've seen the belt that GD uses is heavier than the GT belt.
