What does it weight on a 1848?
Whats its durability? Will it have to be replaced every so many years?
Will it make you slide worse in turns?
How bout some pics of your boat with it?

I don't know the weight on my 1848 but I went with 0.100 on my hull and got the polymer on the bottom to make up for going lighter. It has protected my bottom pretty good. It has some nicks out of it here and there from going over rocks and pipes but for the most part it is doing what I intended it to do.

That being said out here we don't have the stumps like you guys do back there so I can't comment on how it holds up in that environment. Granted hook prevention is going to be more dictated by the construction of the hull but even then if you hit something just right with the right amount of force I could see getting a bigger hook even with the polymer. But all the small hooks, at least for me, have been avoided.

Depending upon how often you use the boat and how rough you are with it I don't see you having to replace the polymer for years.

It doesn't slide any more or less than a hull w/o it IMO.

Jason, I have it on my 1852. It was shipped to me coiled up in a big box. The box couldnt have weighed more than 50 pounds. And epoxy, ummm say 15 pounds.

Durability- I dont think your going to destroy it. I slid across a few gravel bars that had an 1" or 2" of water on top of it. I ran across maybe 6 of these and no damage.

I dont see why it would slide any worse than a boat already does. Never had my boat in the water before i put the polymer on.

Jason i can't speak for mm boats but i have been running air boat since i was a kid and went trougha pretty good number of polymer bottoms on them. This year we had the bottom come off our big air boat and it was about 6-7 years old. I really think polymer will give you more advantages on dry ground. You will never run dry ground you may skip across it but will never run it. I think it is just way over rated on mm boats.

I can see where this might be a great addition to a MM hull, but one concern I would have is in regards to adhesion, especially when aluminum and the poly expand and contract at different rates, because of temp changes.
