Post subject:  Prodrive on a godevil?

I know a while back somebody had posted a thread that had pics of this setup. But the search feature sucks.
I'm about to make the jump from lt to sd and looking at used motors I'm gonna buy the best deal I can get and it might turn out to be a prodrive.
I'm wondering about the shorter tiller and being able to reach the grab bar when standing to drive.
I've got a 1844 GD boat with the bench across it.
Anybody run a similar setup and have pics of it?

I had the motor you are looking at on a 16-44 go devil. Ran like a scalded dog, it was a great timber boat. Toted a hunting load well but it wouldn't tote a super heavy load. Wish I still had that boat to run flooded woods in Arkansas. Took the grab bar out with the pd, no need for it.

You can sit or stand. I have a gen 1 that had an extremely long tiller handle and I shortened it. But on mine I could make it longer Again if I wanted fairly simply. I don't know about the newer models than mine but would think it would be easy. I personally wouldn't want no grab bar regardless of motor, but then again I've been called wreck less. It may be just as easy to relocate your grab bar if you or one of your buddies welds

I put a pedestal base on mine in the back so I could sit higher and drive. Don't know if you can tell much from this pic I found.

I had a stage 1 prodrive on an 1838 GD boat. It porpoised bad so I sdded wedges and cured that issue. I put a pedestal seat in mine and it worked good.

Lol that was the wrong way for me to say that. I meant I wouldn't want a boat without a grab bar.. I'd be thrown out of that bitch pretty quick

Dont have any pics but the search feature will show you some that others have done. The ones I put on were 5 inches long,3.5 inches wide and1/2 inch tall. I made some out of wood and epoxied/glued them down till I figured out what size I wanted. Put one on each side,as close to outside edge so you dont disturb h20 before it gets to the prop and with the back edge where the transom and bottom meet. I took my boat to Instagator 911 shop(member here) and he made the aluminum wedges and installed them.
