I knew there was a good liberal somewhere in you, Frog. Texans for years have been raped by the insurance industry yet they continue to elect ultra conservative leaders who grant them favor. This is the definition of "acrasia" or "akrasia": the state of acting against one's better judgement.

I know southeast Texas's flood insurance is outrageous ! A guy I work with pays 1,500$ a year for flood insurance and he does not live near a dam or river. I live ( Louisiana ) 30 yards from a canal / Olsen bayou that is tidal and does flood time to time ( has not come near the house yet ). I only 450$ a year on flood insurance. Texas people are getting shafted big time.

I hear Ya ! My parents had a tree fall on there house during Rita. Insurance company said it was not flooding that caused the damage , that the tree caused the damage. My parents said yes the tree caused the gaping whole in the roof, but you ( the insurance company ) were responsible for removing the tree. You needed three bids to have the tree removed. We got you three bids. Mind you this was going on when 1,000's of others had trees needing to be removed from there houses. The insurance company took three days to approve of a bid to have the tree removed. In doing so the house was rained in. The house after 9 days from the hurricane till the tree could be removed and blue roofed was growing mold and mildew on the inside. What could of ben a lot less costly ended up being a total remodel on the inside of the house. Just because the insurance company needed three bids to have the tree removed. They still tried to say that's not there responsibility. To make a really long story a little bit shorter after my parents went through 12 real estate adjusters finally found an honest understanding person that actually had a clue what it cost to rebuild a home. Thanks to him my parents were able to have there home repaired. The process took 2 years but my parents were just happy to get out of the camper and into there home.
