Looking at the Garmin etrex30x or Montana 600t anybody have either of these or suggest any others? Don't want to spend a fortune but also want a quality user friendly unit. |

I have a 650T and I love mine. If you get one definitely get the birdseye subscription. It's pretty easy to use and I haven't had any problems with signal loss. |

Another vote for Garmin. I have two of the old 76CSXs, they are just as good on the backwaters are they are on the open ocean. Work great in the woods or on the road too. Easy to use! |

I had an etrex and upgraded to Oregon. The oregon is much better in my opinion vs the etrex. And iknow the montana has more features than the Oregon. The etrax always got me home but doesn't have to many useful bells and whistles. If you want to save a few bucks look at the Oregon s |

You can get the birds eye maps for anywhere in the US, I think it's $30 a year for the satellite imagery. The only reason I got the 650T is because it was on sale for less than the 600T. I wouldn't spend any extra for the 650 with camera because the camera isn't that great and who doesn't already have a phone with a camera. |

Birdseye imagery is awesome. I have a Montana 650t. Its the biggest screen you can get that will still fit it in your pocket, barely. |

I was thinking 78SC but due to bigger screen size am thinking the Montana as well. What exactly are the birds eye maps? Going to be pulling the trigger here pretty soon and having a hard time deciding between the 600 vs 650 and t model vs non t model...... |

Birdseye imagery is an aerial photo of the terrain. You pay 30 bucks a year to subscribe. You download a program called garmin basecamp to your computer and thru that you highlight the area you want to map and then send it to your gps. |
