i got a mud buddy surface drive and this is my first mud motor my question is what postion should the moter be in while trailering ? im installing a transom saver and want to cut the tube to the proper length should it be in the full up postion or level so the engine bracket isnt resting on mounting plate ?? just want to do it right the first time and save the transom . I travel along way with the boat on the highway. any info is greatly appreciated |

The MB surface drive has a travel lock on it- just trim it up and then engage the travel lock. I use that for most trips and is all thats needed. I have never used a transom saver. If I am taking a long trip or know I will be traveling rough roads then I attach ratchet tiedowns from the trailer to the skeg. This keeps the motor/boat from bouncing and with the travel lock gives a stable 3 point lock down. |
