Post throttle handle mods on gtr35?
need advice- have very long runs, using gtr35 tiller handle, I find the stock throttle hard to hold for long periods. Can it be safely modified or is there a better aftermarket system?

Hmmm good question.

I've seen many crawler rigs modified with bicycle gear changers to keep RPM's up while shifting or using clutch...

Why not retrofit a gear selector from a bicycle and tie into your throttle cable. You can set it with a few clicks and then when you want to back off just click it back down to the normal position.

I've seen this done when off roading just not done on the water. Could easily be adapted to work for the GTR or any rig for that matter.

I bought a four-wheeler thumb extension thingy at Wally-world...works pretty good.

I just took a dremel tool and trimmed off that bottom part.

Woody,

I notice your power trim buttons on your grip. Do you have that with the new control box or the old?

Either way, what's the deal and the hook up?

I loosened mine and turned it down so that when im standing my hand just pulls against the throttle. I left it loose enough so that when it sit i just rotate it to make it comfortable to drive like that.

cypress, i had a write-up on the GT forum but it is down...i'll give you a quick look with some pics...i basically bought a trim switch at academy and wired it in to the main trim switch.

Makes it possible to trim and reverse and throttle all at the same time!!

Got it. I have the new control box which contains the trim switch. It went out and the goodfellas at gt replaced it but i like your setup. One of the older boats in gt's yard had it as well. I suppose Kyle, et al will eventually redesign the setup to have the trim at your fingertips.

Thanks
