I've put 118 hours on mine so far. Had the normal issue s with maintance , but they were mostly briggs related, mostly my fault , jumped a push rod on the lake , fixed on the lake . Started keeping on top of valve lash more diligently . As far as the backwater frame. I broke the cav plate bracket bar and had it re welded, I added a extra bar strip weld on each side so I'm less likely to break it again. I'm very rough on it that's the only frame issue I've had. . It still drives easier than any other long tail I've owned . Almost never have to grease and the revo clean system on the triple sealed bearing keeps debris from eating your seals. I'm not saying I've tried to break it ![]() ![]() This is cav plate bar break, Arlon thinks my shaft turned eccentric , or got warped , only time he has seen a break there , it was caused by shaft vibration , He sent me new shaft in the mail. 4 days later free. He and jake know what they are doing , have great customer service , and have the the best longtail on the market in my opinion. H Finn |

Had mine for two season's. It has 120 hours on it. Had the Cav plate come off once. My fault, should have noticed the bolts backing out. I've bent the skeg a few times but who hasn't. My son has been using it a lot lately and he's not easy on it. So far it's held up well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD |

I've ran a 35 Swomp hard for a couple seasons (early spring fishing breaking ice through to winter ice breaking, hunting, fishing and running around on average 3 days a week spring -early winter. no idea on hours but the oils been changed 5 times. I liked it enough to ditch a 6hp PPF that I had previously and get a Swomp lite for my small boat. I have had a couple issues, but all self inflicted such as nailing a big rock dead on wide open bending the shaft pretty bad and wrecking a prop. This is the wear point! I also hit multiple rocks pretty bad another weekend and has to cut the jam nuts to get old prop off to replace it. I didn't need a serial number or model number, just called Jake, (the guy I bought it from) had a fun conversation, got good instructions and tips for changing out a shaft easily and had a shaft, prop, and nuts in the mail a day later. That said, I've had stellar service when needed that's professional and responsive even at the height of duck season and products are second to none. Backwater takes great care of their customers unquestionably, and treats people how they would want to be treated, that's why we're all such raving fans. |
