What are the benefits of a stud pole kit?

The spud pole kit is great for hunting outta the boat. It makes it more stable and keeps the boat in place better than an anchor. That being said, I rarely hunt out of my boat but use the spud pole to anchor it everytime! It sure beats pullin out the anchor everytime.

Oh, and ask stumpgrinder.... an 18' boat is a waste of 2' of aluminum. Might as well make it a 20'.

I didnt see the spuds Adam.....

Im chose the 52" boat because, I think it will carry a load at a faster speed than a 48" boat.

I usually hunt with 3 guys and a good load or 2 guys and a heavy load.

Im ok running 25-26 MPH, but I need to carry a big load at 20-22mph.

I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PUT 4 GUYS IN MY BOAT AND RUN 20MPH.....

Go 52 wide! ;)

Post subject:  Re: Orderinfg my new boat this week...need some ideas

show me a 52 wide that will carry 4 guys andhunting load at 20!!!

I would go no less than 54 and would recomend 60 wide.

Had 5 guys 1 dz canada floaters 3 dz mallard floater and 1 dz full body mallards plus 6 guns 5 blind bags plus boating stuff in a 2060 low side PD with a stock 36 and we ran 17.6 all day in deap water.....

Had 4 guys 5 layouts 4 bags 5 guns 1.5 dz canadas 2 dz fullbody mallets 5 dz floaters and ran 16 in deap water.

Ask mitcke about how his rig ran...it is a 1852 ifn im remembering correct.

Well, I have a 16 x 48 that used to run 25-27 with a 3 man hunting load before the engine was modded. Now it'll run that with 4.

I have a friend who has a 17 x 52 that runs 27-29 with a three man hunting load along with a hard blind. His engine is modded though.

yeah if you want a hunting boat only for transportation and heavy loads i say the wider the better, my 58" bottom carrys 4 guys, ice chests, generator, and a bowfishing rack very well.

Why would a boat boat 60 wide carry a load better than a 52 wide?

How much light load top end am i going to lose by going with a 60 wide over a 52????

Post subject:  Re: Orderinfg my new boat this week...need some ideas

now both yall slap nutz tell us what your motors did stock so the man can see he is not going to be happy with it.

Hell i ran 27.3 with 3 guys hunting load and 3 layouts blinds in deap water.....but that wasnt stock.

Ill let u know what she does with a stocker in a few weeks.

Craig how skinny r u boys and u must only need 6 shells to get your limet.

when i say hunting load my bag is 50 plus and the smalest guy we had was 180 then i was second at 230 then a 275, 250, and 280.....now roll that at 26 with a stock rig.....u skinny crackers need to start posting weights whe u say u roll 3 guys with huntn loads at 26 with a stock motor.

Info like this is how MANY guys find out that the rig they just bought will not work!!j

Later

No problem. I thought I posted my stock speed up earlier.

A three man hunting load to me is three people, all around 190-200 lbs., with guns and shell buckets, 5 dozen or so decoys, clothes, ice chest full of beer, 12 gals. gas, an extra quart or oil, 1 battery, 3 life jakets, a small assortment of tools and a dog with a little dog food. (2 ziplok bags)

Stock speed with this load was 25-27 mph.
Modded speed is 27-30, sometimes a little higher.

Stock speed light boat was 29-30.
Modded speed light boat is 32-34.

All speeds are deep water.

By light boat I mean, me (205 lbs.) 1 battery, 12 gals. gas, 1 life jacket and a small assortment of tools.

I have a 48 now that will haul any load I want! I Just ordered a 52 for more room!!Tried a 60 and it seemed to have alot of drag in the mud and was hard to get in some of the ditches that we run! ;) Good Luck!!

My 2054 will carry a load much better than my 1848 did. A wider boat rides higher in the water and drafts less water. It will carry a load better than a skinnier one, all other things being equal, IMO.

I can carry a 3 man hunting load with 5 dozen deeks, 2 batteries and all misc. gear at 25-26 with a stage 1 and cam. I can hit 30-31 completely empty. I carried 6 people at 21-22 on 4th of July weekend. Keep in mind, my boat is huge!

The moral of the story..... Go big and then get a stage 1 at some point. Gives you the best of both worlds. I've had some mechanical failure with it, but it's all been my own fault. (Not running rev lmtr, etc)

Milk, feel free to give me a hollar if you want to come drive my boat. Good luck with your decision.

MM Brand: Gator-Tail
Horsepower: 35 Stock
Boat Brand: Gator-Tail
Boat Size: 1852 Extreme step chine hull
Boat Layout: Open

Speeds | Shallow Water: Unknown
Speeds | Deep Water: 26.2 mph
Total Boat Load With Gear Etc: 3 guys (200lbs,190lbs,260lbs), dog and 6 gallons of gas
Conditions Tested In: Glass

Had a four man hunting load a couple of weekends ago and was running a steady 23 on gps

The 52" bottom works great for where I hunt...a 60" bottom is too wide for some of the ditches I run and the 52 carries the load I have with no problems

If your serious about an 1860 read the review I have posted up about my rig in my signature. It has a removable blind which isn't pictured (its actually removed in the photos) but you can see the winch receiver, spud poles and all the accessories etc.

I run with 4 people 22-24 mph depending upon deep water or shallow. Its a very stable hull.
