I noticed this weekend that I have a broken bunk board. Has anyone ever tried the synthetic deck boards? If not that I am considering some treated boards with polyurethane. I am done with carpet. I do want them the boat to slide a little better. FYI my boards sit 1 1/2 on top not 3 1/2 so im not thinking I can use the slick poly things on the boards. Id like to hear your thoughts. |

For about the same cost as the deck boards, try ultimate bunk boards. They are a HDPE 2X4 or 2X6. Have been using them for 2 years with good luck. http://www.ultimatebunkboards.com/ Mag10 |

I would go with the 2x6 over the deck boards for better strength. Depending on cross brace spacing deck boards may sag. I have 4 treated 2x6s laying flat. At 9' that would cost over 300.00 for those fancy bunk boards. The synthetic type deck boards are not stiff enough unless you have multiple cross braces on your trailer. |

I used a 1 1/2" X 1 1/2" X 1/8" angle under the bunks. I used a spade bit to counterbore the heads of the carriage bolts and washers below the surface. The high density polyethelene is pretty rugged, even in below zero temps. Mag10 |

My Magic Tilt came with a plastic cover on the 2x4 bunks instead of carpet. This boat slides on and off better than my last boat on carpet covered bunks. |
