First of all, Merry Christmas to all!! Hope you have a great day with your family. Ok, down to the real issue. I noticed the other day that the vent on my fuel tank was loose. I've nad nothing but problems with this vent since I had the tank built. Well, i tried to turn it, and when I did, the nut fell off down into the tank. I don't really have a problem with the nut being down inside the tank, but what about the hole where the vent is/was? I can't run my boat with the old vent just sitting there. Its gonna pop and spill out more fuel than it did when the vent was attached. Is there anything i can do in the meantime until i can get a vent fabbed up for this tank? Maybe a rubber stopper jammed into the hole with a small hole drilled thru the rubber to act as a vent. I have no clue if that would work, but I'm willing to try anything. I have a few days off and I'm looking to do some hunting. But right no, i've got no boat. Thanks guys, and Merry X-Mas!!!! |

Find you a styrofoam fishing cork (the kind with the stick in the middle) that will fit your vent hole. The gas will eventually eat the foam away but this will get you out of a jam if your vent hole is big enough. |

Dont fill it all the way and run it. IF you worried about something getting in it steal a pair of your ladies pantyhose and put over it. Not the time of year to be down for something like that. Wont hurt anything to run it. |

Put a Rivnut in there and screw a new vent into it. |

Think I'm gonna try the rivnut thing. If I can find one in the size I need. That sounds like a good idea. |

Wish I could tomorrow. A couple of us are going run tomorrow. Well, if I can rig something for a quick fix. Not sure how long we gonna be out if you wanna head north for a little ride. And I've got a family obligation Sunday, so that's out. You booked up wednesday or Thursday? |
