Post Gen 3 vs Gen 4 prodrive
I took the Gen 4 out for a run today. At first I was a little concerned because the tiller vibrated and had torque similar to a GTR with a 2 blade. After having a look see, I noticed that my motor had been re-mounted on the transom crooked and my trim tab was not bent like normal: I reset the motor and bent the tab. This removed all of the vibration and torque. Now my motor is back feeling like a prodrive.
The Gen 4 seems to get through the low end way faster than the Gen 3. After adjustments I was able to consistently get 28.1 MPH with the Gen 4. My Gen 3 ran 26.0 consistently. I'm achieving my best speed at 4050 RPM's now. With the Gen 3 it was 4350 RPM's. It seemed to handle the grass better with the Gen 4. I felt like the Gen 3 may have been better in mud but I barely tried to find out for sure. My total weight today was me 205, 12 gallons of gas and an additional 150 to 160 pounds in gear.
I'm very happy with the Gen 4. I would suggest to anyone to spend the 1500 dollars and get the Gen 4 upgrade.

What if I didn't remove the motor from the transom and have the torgue and vibration issue? However I did use my old skeg off the gen 3.

I would get the prop balanced and bend the trim tab out a little bit.

Is there really that much difference from the gen 3 and gen 4 performance wise? Do u guys that made the switch think it was worth the time and money?

As who dat stated, the gen 4 does get through the lower end way faster. Now if that's worth 1500 that's up to you... Owen: I'm going to try bending the trim tab.

Sorry that I haven't been following this topic much, but can someone tell me the differences right quick?

Are you guys running gen 3s still using the stock props? Or is there some aftermarket prop that squeezes more speed out of the gen 3? My motor runs great. Just seems like it should be faster. My stock prop is an early 2013 model. Still full size (no sand here).

Should be a new prop available soon for the gen 3. Give KP a shout.

Baggy worked my prop. It had some issues with balance and one blade working harder than the other. I will run it tomorrow and see what is up with it. Bryan had his prop worked on the Gen 4 and said it made a world of difference in reducing vibration and torque

I am also turning less RPM's. I was turning 4350 at highest speed with Gen 3. With the Gen 2 I'm running 4050 at highest speed with the stock prop. We will see in the morning what my worked prop will do

Did you run today with the re-worked prop?

I just got a new gen IV to replace my gen III that was hit, my speed is best at 4050rpm as well. Running 25 solid bumping 26. Probably will improve a little as it gets broken in. Clutch sounds different to me and there are some changes to the powerhead. Has a check engine light now and a change to the throttle linkage.

Did your RPM's come up at all? KP told me I should be running 4250rpms. Unless the motor is going to open up a bit with more hours, the gen IV is slower than my old gen III. It's concerning because 4000rpms is leaving some horsepower on the table. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
