Post fuel line ?
installing a racor fuel water filter on a new boat build. racor suggest putting in a check valve at gas tank to prevent back flow and loosing prime. gas tank is less than 12 inches below filter and will be run to a new 23 hp mudbuddy with electric fuel pump. do any of you do this or think this is necessary ? seems like its not needed or one more thing to go wrong in system.

Give it a go, u can always add a check valve later if u need one. Most on here don't have any sort of check valve

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most (if not all) primer bulbs have a built in check valve.

Even with an electric fuel pump, it’s a good idea to still run a primer bulb. What if the fuel pump fails? You can still manually send fuel to the motor. I believe it puts less strain on the e-pump, when you need to initially fill the line / filter.

i was going to have a bulb in spare parts box and if needed splice it in line when needed. but now that you stated it has its own check valve which it does, maybe i should just put bulb in line now and be done with it ?

Every time I have used a primer bulb on my mud boat, it has given me fits with air leaks or being a faulty bulb.

I don't run a primer bulb anymore and have never even needed it.

That was my concern and reason for posting the question. Having a spare bulb in the boat box is easy enough to put in line if needed. It's one more thing to go wrong. Another question if you have a electric fuel pump in line and turn the key on and it bring power to pump will it not bring fuel to carb automatically like pumping a bulb on your outboard ?
