Coming from FB.........That new raptor prop is $370, some special one they making for the the BOSS motors is $420...I must be the only one that dosent understand this prop craze...$420 for a prop is ridiculous, for what an extra 1-2mph? For $420 i can buy a big blade and have it rebuilt...twice. Or i could almost buy two brand new big blades...just think if you burn 3 of those $420 props you could have had a decent amount of motor work done instead to get some real gains out of your motor. Prop game will only get you so far...but hey if theres that many people willing to shell out that kind if money for a prop, more power to the guys selling them!

I'm sure plenty of people will roll that into their financing on their high dollar rigs. It's gotten down right ridiculous. Too much money for me so I just sit back and watch the show at this point.

I agree. I can't foresee spending that much on a new prop... Especially a three blade as I am not a fan of them on my boat..

However I know that due to my mods a stock prop is not enough for my motor. I know a brand new big blade will still need to be pitched up at least an 1" for me to run it where it needs to be.

That being said, some of the "stock props" are just simply not enough to run on these built motors we have now... Build up the motors = build up the props.

I assumed the $420.00 raptor prop meant it had already been re-worked...???

A stock motor wont turn that raptor prop. It's geared more to Modded units. A worked merc 3 blade will cost 400 ish aswell. 3 blades are good water and cruising props. The 2 blades is what gets you there and back in the thick stuff.

The Raptor is a 12" diameter x 11" pitch. Y'all can correct me if I'm wrong, but, aren't the other 3 blades in the neighborhood of 11" in diameter x 10" pitch?

That would tell me your motor would need to have some huevos to effectively run this prop.

From what I understand, it was designed to give a good balance of load carrying, hole shot and mud performance from a 3 blade. My experience with 11" diameter 3 blades, great load carriers and hole shot in open water; barely held their own in medium thick muck. On top of this, they obviously put some curves in the right place to help the belt drives with a little more reverse....which, you can get from the right prop guy working your prop.

With a 12" diameter, the Raptor probably ups the game in the mud. I doubt to the extent of a 2 blade, but, with more surface area, I would say better than the 11" 3 blades.

And yes...stock props are JUNK! $260 for a stocker and $100-$125 to have it worked...I'd spend the money to get what I want first go around.

Part of the issue with from the factory props has been casting inconsistencies leaving the blade thrust surface uneven or the whole prop unbalanced. Some get it right for a while, but have a not so good run for a while. Even the big blades have gone through that. Since I'm going to be paying for a prop guy to balance anyway, I'll just continue to buy the big blade and get it pitched, cupped, and other magic done at the same time.
No prop is pitched or cupped correctly for every boat setup and load that it will be purchased for.
