 Re: 35 MB problems
The boat never got up on a plane. Try moving some weight around. I have the same problem with heavy loads. Usually I can come to a complete stop, and then give it full throttle to jump it up on plane. If I go to full throttle from a slow idle the boat never gets up out of the water. But it def makes a diff where people are sitting and the majority of the load is. I try to keep the front deck pretty empty and most of the weight in the middle of the boat, seems to work out alright for me.

Hey marsh bandit talk it up for me I need help. When I talk to Mud Buddy or Briggs , they both say gas problem . Had that checked and was ok. Was running great first time out. You would not believe how slow this thing is now.

 Re: 35 MB problems
have you gone and ran it again with little to no load? 16mph drop is pretty drastic if the rpms are good and the motor isint cuttin out, its gotta be the load....

 Re: 35 MB problems
What are the RPM's exactly? How did you have the motor trimmed? What was the air temperature? What about altitude? Give us more clues because that load should be a walk in the park for that motor.
Give us the RPM's wot in neutral and then again wot under a load in the water.

 Re: 35 MB problems
i was wrong, called the briggs tech and he said my rpms out of water were 4120 and he was guessing they would be bumping 3700 in water. i was a little rough on motor 2nd time out running in cypress slough, it was some nasty stuff, logs and hard bottom.

 Re: 35 MB problems
how is your boat set up (ie flotation, decks, boxes ect)? that load dosent seem like it should warrant that kind of drop. the fact that you were hitting mid 20's the first time out sounds like everything WAS right with the boat. let me know once you get a chance to run it again. AND THE MOTOR SOUNDS GOOD?

 Re: 35 MB problems
my buddy has about that same boat and motor. We went out with two guys and hunting load it was running 18 mph I almost got out and swam past this thing. Are they all this slow? My prodrive runs 30 with same load I know mine isnt stock but 18 is slow. How heavy are this dang gator trax?

 Re: 35 MB problems
I have the 1844 gator trax. You should def be over 20 mph with that load. I usually run about 23-24 with the same load.

 Re: 35 MB problems
easy way to tell if your running on one cylinder is take one plug wire off at a time if it dies with one side taken off then that other cylinder isnt firing.

 Re: 35 MB problems
Not sure if you've found out what was wrong or not, but I had a similar problem with my 2005 MB 35 and 1648. I had original stock prop (10") and the motor would top out rev wise at 4050. Trouble was I couldn;t get onto plane with 3 guys and the dog. Went to a new 12.5" prop and added the carb kit and exhaust and it runs like a raped ape. Jumps up on plane with similar loads.

 Re: 35 MB problems
I have owned 3 GT boats and have sold / run a few others. My GT boats were mostly powered by Hyperdrives but I hung a Prodrive on the last one. The GT boats like load toward the back. Get your passenger(s) as close to the back of the boat as possible.
It definitely sounds like your RPMs are wrong. Get a tach. I am at 2200 ft. altitude and all of my motor / boat combos achieve fastest running speed at 3700 to 4100 RPMs in the water. You may have your prop buried too low or up too high for fastest speed. These are surface cutting props and prop depth is critical.
There can be engine problems uncovered by leak down tests and by electrical tests that will expose why a motor will fall down under load. Then there's carb icing.
Get the tach and play around with your fastest prop depth / speed combo. If you don't uncover the performance you are looking for then you have something wrong with the engine.

 Re: 35 MB problems
A buddy used to have the a GT with a mudbuddy..liked the boat hated the motor. He had piss poor service from MB and he was having the same problems. He had a cracked piston in his the third time he ran it. Owned the motor for a year, and it spent 9months in the shop.
Good luck hope you get better service than he did
