New User Looking To Buy Surface Drive
I'm new to the mud motor world and looking to get my first surface drive very soon.
I'm looking at the Go-Devil and Copperhead models.
Can anyone tell me which is better?

Re: New User Looking To Buy Surface Drive
Better is a relative term. I'm no expert, but many here will be asking you these questions. what kind and size of hull do you have in mind? what features in a motor are important to you? Hp, weight, reverse, neutral, power trim?? just a few examples to start. If you are comparing apples to apples with these two brands, you are only looking at the 23 hp models, and both use the same briggs motor. copperhead wins the weight catagory by about 80 lbs. for a motor of this size, I believe if you choose one that is significantly heavier, it needs to have options that the copperhead doesn't have to offset the weight difference. typically guys that use this 23 hp class of motor are using it on a smaller boat and the weight means a lot. with all that said, yes I am a copperhead owner but I have owned a godevil long tail and thought it was a good product. Good luck

Re: New User Looking To Buy Surface Drive
I'd get a Dixie, heard they got a special goin on right now they pay you $500 for one. I'm thinking about gettin me a dual rig, maybe the reverse model(get 2 more and mount on the bow). Guess I could get a couple more for the sides so I could get full power sideways and be close to $0 on the entire rig. Damn now that I think about it that's gonna cost a lot in fuel, might have to pass, unless they can throw in a fuel card for being such a great customer.
