 Stick Steer
What are you guys thoughts on using a stick steering instead of the wheel? I drove a true mudboat at a buddy of mines camp around Cameron, LA that had a stick steer and it seemed to work fine...anybody seen/drove one of the 4 makes with a stick steer? Pros?/Cons? Woody

 Re: Stick Steer
PD built a custom stick steer rig for former Gov. Mike Foster.... dat was a badass little rig. If I ever had da need for a steering rig that's definitely what it would be.
Only thing I would do different is build a custom steering stick similar to an airboat and put a hot foot for da throttle.... da little stick steering rigging kits for outboards wouldn't be enough to really work da motor in da thick shit.

 Re: Stick Steer
You know ~ Thats a dang good idea !!! Long time ago .. mines partna had the stick-steer on his KingFisher BassBoat and I thank some manufactors have tried it since. Only big problem is thay be in the front of the boathull gittin' that ruff ride. But you know .... when you be runnin' and gunnin' fo WhitePearch .... it would be cool.

 Re: Stick Steer
never really looked at one close. I've always seen them up in the front, but is there any rule that says they have to be up in the front and not in the back?

 Re: Stick Steer
Most of the jet boats run em. I'm not a fan of the hot foot. Just my opinion. Most of the jet rigs are driven from the front to help trim the boat down so they don't suck air into the tunnel and cavitate. Also helps seeing rocks before you hit them. I would think a rear seat set up for a mm would be pretty cool.

 Re: Stick Steer
Why won't the stick steer turn as tight as the tiller?
I was thinking of doing a center console towards the rear and then instead of a wheel, have the stick...drove an old stern-drive mudboat that way. Woody

 Re: Stick Steer
no reason why it shouldn't unless the steering setup doesn't allow da motor to turn stop to stop like da tillers. not familiar with PD's steering rigging.
