I have a keel cooled inboard I am thinking of having it converted to a so called super go-devil. The shaft comes out the transom instead of the bottom of the boat. Who does the conversions, how well do they work?

work well when they're workin... high maintenence.

Maybe check with Benji @ Iberia Propellor Service. He builds the mud units... or used to. Ain't heard nuthin from him in a while, not sure if he still does it or not.

Here is a guy in my buddies lease in Franklin, LA
350 ZZ4 super Go Devil boat. This thing is mean and doesnt give many problems. But you have to be mechaincally inclined and do LOTS of maintenance.

That's a Machete drive unit pictured above. It is built by Faucheux's in Baldwin, LA. 337-923-7341, ask for Shaun or Derrick. I have a Machete with a 31 Van. with Stage 1.5 by Coondik Customs. The one I have has no more maintenance than any other surface drive, (check engine oil, check transmission oil, grease bearings, u-joints, and pivot points on unit every 10-15 hours and then drive it like you stole it).

the one mud unit I've ever seen required alot of wrench turning on the outdrive.... don't know if they're all that way or not. pretty badass when it's working right though!
