So I’m looking to slap a new 37efi on my mudbuddy frame! My first question is will it fit? And my second question is I was looking on brandnewengines.com and I see there are two different 37efi. On is more and one is less. What one would I get to make it fit right

61e477 is the model normally used. Not sure of the difference between the 377 and 477. If Marcus or will don't chime in before I find the answer, I'll post it here.

You are both correct. Also the 61e377 says it has a 3600 or 4000 governer. We buy the 61e477's

477 have the 4800 limiter like Will said. They have the same footprint as the big blocks. Also beware of crankshafts. Hens I don't recommend buying from online sites that don't help you get the right engine.

Considering they say it's a 1 1/8x4, you're probably good. But like maxxis said, they don't really care if it works like he or one of the manufacturers would. Shoot him a pm and see what his price to you would be.

Marcus could probably get you the "right engine the first time" for close to the same price you will pay online.

Cause you don't want to have to deal with sending the motor back cause something is wrong and all that BS.

Years ago there was two out put shaft lengths, may want to check your old motor for correct lenght when ordering. Older motors with out clutches had the shorter crank out put shafts.

I bought my new powerhead straight from a briggs dealer last summer and installed it myself.

Might be a dumb question but how’s the dealer gonna know what one I need? What do I need to ask for for him to get me the right motor for a problem free swap. Motor is a 2014 5500 hd

I walked in with the model # and he placed the order. They know nothing about mud motors. Even if you leave it stock, once it's on a frame it may as well be an aircraft engine to them.

Yep ordering it tomorrow. Took motor off the frame tonight crank measures up to be the same as the 37efi per Briggs measuring specs so I think I’m good to go! Thanks for all the help

Also i did just relize I’m going from a modded motor down to a 37efi and I have a hammer prop on it.... is this thing gonna be able to turn it effectively? If it can haul a load but run a little slower I’m ok with that for the bowfishing season but if not I’m gonna need to jump to a new prop. What do you guys think

There have been a couple take possession of the new 40efi, maybe someone can drop a type #. I just looked at Briggs Industrial engine web page and it's not on there yet. Seeing as manufacturers are getting them, don't see why one can't be found.
