GoDevil 35HP SD.
This morning I'm touring Keith Lake and realize something ain't feeling right. My dang throttle is broke. Looked like where the set screw goes through the PLASTIC to secure the throttle assembly to the tiller developed a crack. Throttle was flopping around. I happened to have a cable tie and sorta half ass secured it with that. Stopped by Heritage Marine in Beaumont, they called GoDevil and they said they would cover it ONE time. I've probably got 6 months of warranty left. So if the PLASTIC breaks again, it's on me?? One time warranty repair? One time customer??

They all use those plastic levers stock. Time to contact bps or gatortail and get the metal throttle lever. Mention you're running a stock carb. That plastic one lasts a while then it breaks. I've even used a metal clutch lever from a dirt bike before. Think I paid 12 bucks to make it work. Cover it from the sun when not in use, it'll last a bit longer, but temp swings will still make it brittle.

Yeah Heritage said the Gatortail is better.
The boat is always covered and the tiller has the GD sleeve on it when stored.

On top of what Russ said. The stainless levers feel a lot better on long runs. Much more ergonomically correct.

The gatortail and bps levers are a preference. They're both better than stock. I prefer the gt, I know people that like the curve in the bps.

I've had replacing the throttle on my mind for awhile.
What smoked my butt was GD saying "replace it one time only". It's under warranty, they're not just doing me a favor. Whoever decided to use plastic with a set screw in it to provide a friction fit is not one of GD's better "engineers or experienced shop hands".
Damn, I'm still pissed.

It's not just godevil. Mudbuddy and gatortail use those too. But those 2 at lease have another solution.

save your 'warrantee work' for real stuff like when the motor craps out or the lower unit seizes up. I feel like you do, plastic is for the wifes tits, not for a mudmotor. lol

I got the same problem. Bought the 37efi this spring and thought the throttle lever seemed a little flimsy. At first the set screw vibrated loose so I replaced it. Then last fall while out hunting I bent down to reach for something and my PFD caught on it and I heard a cracking sound. Did a field repair with some electrical tape to get me home. Looking to replace it with something more durable.
