I have a 12ft airboat hull that is 48" wide on the bottom plus turning chines. I started to put together an airboat but never finished it. I'm thinking about rebuilding the transom and running a mud motor on it. What motor do you think would suit this hull? I was considering a 12hp copperhead.

I would think the little copperhead would do well on there. Might even be able to go with the 18 since you are 48 wide, but I don’t see why the 12 wouldn’t work well as long as you built the transom to the right height for those little copperheads

Dont overdo it. It doesnt need alot. If you have any hp restricted areas around you, the 10hp makes a nice size, so the 12 would be fine if not. Unless it's a heavy 12ft boat, 12 hp is plenty. The whole point of a rig like that is small and lightweight. Keep it that way.
