I think that lenth will make for the most load carrying ability.

My experience would be that it depends on your application and what you are trying to accomplish. I have had both.

As stated already to carry more load, I would go length. If I wanted side to side stability with less load, I would go with wider boat. You have to define load... 2 guys, dog, dec's, gear? or 3 or 4 guys, dog, dec's, gear?

Also depends on your motor... If the load I was referring to was the motor, I would go wide to get more displacement at the rear. If it is people and things that you can spread out thru out the boat then longer is better.

If you are having the boat built, I would discuss with the builder-depending on who it is, those guys know what they are doing-they do it everyday

She said get longer and wider....

Both length and width contribute to boat's load carryin capabilities. It's all about water displacement vs. drag, and da more surface area at da bottom of da boat contribute to both of dem. Da goal is to find a happy median. If you are plannin on runnin a stock 35 GTR and carryin a load on step is you main objective. I reccomend da length should be 18' - 19' and da width 50" - 56".
