I have 2 marine seats that I mount on top of the Prodrive untility box. I am thinking about mounting the utility box on the side and getting the GT hunt seat bases. I wanted to know your thoughts before I buy them. Also, is there any other seat bases that you recommend? I am trying to stay mobile in the boat, so I dont want to mount any thing permenent. DD |

If your stuck on seat bases you might try one of these. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templ ... hasJS=true I like the folding directors chairs because you can really get them out of the way. Academy has them and I also use them out of the boat. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/store ... 0423bb4e79 |

Them Cabela's seat base's are cool but don't bring them near salt water. That tubing rust faster than than you think. Gator tail seat bases are the ticket just a little bulky, but will last a lifetime. |

I seen a pic of a seat base that had 4 legs, almost like the bottom of a fold up chair. Anybody use them? |

If you want to stay mobile, have you thought of or tried a pedestal style seat? That is what we have in two boats and it works great, just pop them in when you want them and pop them out when you don't.. Flush mount on floor |

Pedestals are nice but sometimes being able to move a couple inches one way or the other is nice. |

Once again If you don't want to drill holes, and you want to be able to tweak the placement of the seat Look at the Gatortail site I think Prodrive also offers them. They are pricey but the are made very well and work great. |

So how are the gatortail seat bases for stability? If you're sitting on them not paying much attention and there's a sudden swerve of the boat or change in speed, are they stable enough to not tip over with wife or dad falling to the floor? |

Go check out westendangler pics in his review, he has a nice seat base. Also go to flemIngoutdoors.com they have some seats mounted on boxes that can be used for storage or a cooler, that's the ones I'm getting. |

I use beach chairs for seats in my boat. The ones that sit low to the ground. Sams had them a while back for $15. They are low to the bottom of the boat so you view is not blocked. |

Go to army surplus store find the right size ammo can and mount the seat up top of it. Now you have mobile seat and storage. I had to look around a little to find the right one. Works great and I can pull them out when I am not useing them. |

I have a 18' x 48" Pro Drive boat. For the drivers seat: I mounted a swivel base on the metal box and use a "Butt Seat" ( trolling motor type), it swivels and works great. Inside my boat, I have tried mounted seats on my gun box, folding chairs, etc,etc...last year I went to Wally World and bought 3 stackable plastic chairs, I'm sure you've seen em and used em. They are one piece plastic with backs and arms. I bought the tan one's and sprayed black and green to help camo them a bit. Ended up taking gun box out (gun wouldn't fit in it anyway) . Now, my buddies use the plastic chairs for the ride out and ride in and while hunting. When you don't want them, taken out. Works great! If you feel that you are sitting too high when your blind is up, cut the legs off just a bit. |
