 longtail prop
been a while since i owned a lt. should the prop have slack in it? i can rotate the prop to where it is straight up and down. i can then rotate it (and it is fairly free) from the 12 oclock position to about the 2 oclock position and then it tightens up again. this normal?

 Re: longtail prop
i dont kno what kind of shit u talkin bout r what kind of stuff u run in but u come down in souf louisiana and hit the cypress knees with that longtail and see after how hard it will be to get thta prop off it all depends on where u running the loseness of ur prop i agree with b coonass.... half a turn is what we all run on our props!!!!! just cuz u got a aucoin boat that came out of our shop doesnt mean ur expert!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![/quote]
The amount of play in the prop is irrelevant. What is relavant is the fact that when you hit a stump you tighten the prop. It doen't loosen it. I tightened my prop to have only a small amount of play. Thats my preference. And I have been to south La bowfishing. I know how many stumps yall have. We have just as many stumps with rocks thrown in the mix too.

 Re: longtail prop
I have mine a lil loose maybe 1/3 of a turn.if you keep a lil play in it it makes it easier to get the prop of when it's time to replace it.
