okay, so im ordering a prodrive 36 to replace my pushpole....I plan on running shallow water ...might as well plan on hitting logs...should i go ahead an get a rock guard for a extra $250...seems like the right thing to do. not planning on hitting a rock but never know what is in the water in livingston parish  ...but does a rock guard help out/ worth the wild? any personnel experience i can get?-thanks |

Eh, well i noticed alot of old iceboxes, old ovens ect. beached radomly..i am just wondering if a rock guard actually provides decent protection or is it jus gonna give and still tear up my motor... |

never seen a rock guard from PD but most of the time the small peice extended on the skeg does its job from protecting impacts with the motor from hitting the prop from underneath but not from the sides If the rock guard protects from the sides thats great but may cause a loss in speed due to more drag from the extra metal on the motor |

from what I've seen from another motor manufacturer who dont have an extended skeg then they use basicly a piece of flat bar and bolt it to the skeg and call it a rock guard but doesnt help on side impacts with the prop |

Skip the rockgaurd and get a spare prop. |

something to think about it doesnt help when your trying to chew through mud.... skip it, done his stuff that take lower unit off a outboard, |

if you're just hitting logs and underwater trash, I think a rock guard is a bit overkill. tons of people on here doing that without a rockguard. it's might hard to tear up one of those props. |
